About Stanford Sierra Youth & Families

Stanford Sierra Youth & Families provides a continuum of care to empower youth and families to overcome challenges together, as well as connects youth in foster care to the permanent loving families they need and deserve. They support the entire family with professional treatment and compassionate care, so every youth has the opportunity to thrive at home, in school, and in the community. Those served are able to heal, learn life skills, and build relationships through our research-based, family-centered, targeted approach. The organization is determined to give each and every young person a chance at a healthy, productive and self-sufficient life.

Wonder Mentoring Program

Stanford Sierra Youth and Families has made a significant difference in the lives of the vulnerable youth and families served. With the partnership with the Kelly Foundation they were able to transform lives by nurturing permanent connections and empowering families to solve challenges together, so every young person can thrive. The primary objective of the Wonder Mentoring Program is to improve the social and emotional wellbeing of children in foster care, nearly all of whom endured abandonment, abuse, or neglect before entering the system. Through a relationship with their Wonder mentor, a child in foster care can start to heal from past trauma and develop the social and emotional skills needed to form other healthy relationships, including becoming part of a permanent family.
